A little bit more about me and my platform. As many of you all know, I have 5 brothers and 1 sister. This comes with lots of responsibility! Since a young age my parents have demonstrated the importance of achieving good grades and obtaining a good education. Education has been a huge part of my life. This year was my 4th consecutive year as an honour student, and I couldn’t be more proud to choose “Promoting the importance of education.” as my platform.
First off, what is so important about education? Well you see, education isn’t only about going to school every morning and getting good grades, education helps us build opinions and have points of view on things in life, as well as it helps to shape our identity.
I am very fortunate to be raised in a country like Canada where I have been blessed with the right to education. In so many countries youth, such as myself, are not given that opportunity and right. This is heartbreaking, as there are so many talented and amazing youth with so much potential.
This is why I feel it is my duty to promote the importance of education, because so many others don’t have the opportunity to attending school. So often the importance of education has been neglected, as so many youth do not understand why it is important.
I have made it my mission to promote the importance of education, in hopes to educate other youth, as well as to make a change by making education available to all youth around the world.
What will I do?
First off, exposure. That is key, as not very many people are aware that this is an issue. Since the Alberta pageant I have been given the title, “Miss Teenage Cardston County 2017” with my title I will use this by attending events, meeting new people, all while sharing my platform among more people!
Second of all, using this time to fundraise. Miss Teenage Canada this year has asked us to fundraise for the charity “Free the Children.” This charity is a perfect fit to my platform, as they also fundraise money that is then used to bring education to third world countries. Thus I have fundraiser a total of approximately $500 in the past couple months by doing bake sales and accepting private donations, as well as working very hard to help in away that I can.
Third of all, I will continue to promote my platform throughout my year of being Miss Teenage Cardston County 2017. My goal is to use this time as an opportunity to make a difference. A quote we have all heard before, “There is no time like the present.” This is true! There is no no better time to start making a difference, than right now! It is an issue that can’t wait, it must be now.
In conclusion, I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me thus far as I prepare for the National Miss Teenage Canada Pageant. It is so incredibly heart warming to be surrounded with so many amazing individuals who have gone out of their way to help me in making this a reality. Until next time…
